Advanced Access
In addition to Basic registration capabilities, Advanced Access provides detailed locality information on threatened species, which can be granted under limited circumstances. Before applying for Advanced Access we strongly recommend you apply for Basic Registration first and thoroughly explore NatureMap's capabilities. Otherwise tick one or more of the check boxes and see below for more details.
Do you need access to detailed locality information on
threatened flora?
threatened fauna?
Note:
Advanced registration provides access to detailed locality information for threatened flora and fauna, and is normally only granted under limited circumstances. If you are undertaking bona fide research or conservation planning, you will probably find basic registration (both advanced access check boxes unticked) provides the capability you need, including data downloads, and substantial information on both common and threatened flora and fauna in the form of species lists, counts and attributes. If you do feel you require advanced access, please provide as much information as possible in the following fields to help assessment by data custodians. All fields are mandatory.
The Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions (DBCA) maintains a number of information systems that provide specialist flora and fauna information in great detail. NatureMap works in partnership with these systems, which include
FloraBase
, the Declared Endangered Flora Database (DEFL), FaunaFile and the Threatened Fauna Database. You will find links to some of these at particular places within NatureMap. You are also encouraged to register for FloraBase, or discuss your data requirements with the WA Herbarium and the Species And Communities Branch in DBCA. Specific information on threatened flora and fauna should be directed to DBCA's Species and Communities Branch - see
https://www.dbca.wa.gov.au/plants-and-animals/threatened-species-and-communities
Please provide date of birth to assist in identification (dd/mm/yyyy)

Please estimate how many months you will need this level of access for
(generally granted on an annual basis or for the life of a project - provide additional details below if necessary)

Conditions of Access
By submitting this request I agree to abide by the following conditions:
Data obtained through NatureMap is released under the CC-BY-NC license
(attribution, non-commercial).
Data within NatureMap is provided with the participation and good will of data custodians and I will endeavour, where possible, to seek a collaborative approach with custodians in any research or papers published using NatureMap data.
Data provided through NatureMap represents positive records of flora and fauna occurrence. The absence of a record should not be taken to mean flora or fauna is necessarily absent from an area. (To minimise the effect of data gaps, a buffer area should be applied that is reflective of the likelihood of surveys or collections having been undertaken in the target area.)
My username and password will not be passed on to any other person or organisation.
DBCA and data custodians reserve the right to revoke registration if the above conditions of access are not complied with.
I will notify DBCA if any relevant conditions change that might affect my NatureMap authorisation level.
We recommend you print out a copy of this page once it has been completed, so you have a record of the agreement.
